MSI Cyberinfrastructure Institute MSI-CI2
From Eduwiki
The Minority-Serving Institutions (MSI) Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Institute (MSI-CI2) is the basis for MSI-CIEC. The original demonstration project, headed by PI Geoffrey C. Fox, Visiting Scholar for CI Development at the Alliance for Equity In Higher Education, Senior Research Associate at the Center for Computational Science (CCSDS) at the University of Houston-Downtown, and Distinguished Scientist and Director of the Community Grids Lab at Indiana University, was highly successful at showing proof of concept for a scalable mechanism for significantly impacting the development of CI-related science and engineering workforce and for broadening access, participation and appreciation for CI and e-science among traditionally underrepresented minority populations. It did so by forming a community of learning and practice among MSI faculty, students and staff in IT and computer and domain sciences and leading researchers within the established CI community.
